Guest alex
The real issue is that they drive wages down (or keep them down as the case may be) and they send a load of their cash back home, so it doesnt get put back into our economy. But that doesnt sound quite as dramatic I grant you. You and your PC fancy Dan la-di-dah sort are the real problem tbh! Just wanted to knock Alex's Daily Mail hat off for a second. I'm far from Daily Mail but people who come here to beg offer absolutely nothing to the ecomony and actually breed further intolerance. It's the system rather than the people themselves that are to blame though.

I never realised that about the NI contributions btw but I'm fairly certain they benefit from free NHS treatment straight away do they not? I know you can't refuse it but we don't get the same deal abroad do we?

Park Life 71
I see you catwalk queens want all the benefits of late capitalism without the pains that go with it. It is in the interest of U.K. business wallahs to drive wages down.

Alex i still think the point stands that if you are going to move about the EU you should have a better reason than 'the begging is better there' but the law now protects people who want to do it. I still stand by the begging thing. I realise there's nowt you can do about it though. The whole point of the Big Issue was to give people begging in an area an 'honest' and steady form of income though I thought so they could begin to stand on their own two feet. All the ones in Belfast for example are East Europeans. It just seems wrong to me.
DanTheMan 0
I have absolutely no problem with Big Issue sellers, think it's a great way to help homeless people and provide them with something to do. Can't see why anyone would have a problem with them, unless they were unduly aggressive.

There was a lad who sold it outside the Tesco at Gateshead and I felt sorry for him. I haven't bought it for ages though. The music and film reviews in it were alright.
