Guest stevieintoon
I might sound like a bit of a twat here, but I don't care. My uncle is away to Malta on holiday so has left his cockatoo with me. Every time I look at it in the cage I feel like crying. Birds aren't supposed to be in cages, and he rarely lets it out because it bites like fuck. The problem is they're very sociable creatures, quiet all day, then you go downstairs and they're talking away to you, because he must be bored shitless. I've read some stuff on the net about them anyway, and it says they don't get depressed that often. How can they not get depressed, I bet Michael Shields gets depressed, but at least he did it, what has this bird done to deserve 10 years in a cage? I'd the twat oot but I'm frightened in case it takes me finger off. Anyone got any advice over to how make them happier?

It's a disgrace people keep birds as pets, it's gettin a right fat twat as well, because it's not getting enough exercise.
Gemmill 44114
Set it free like on ET when Elliot lets the frogs go, Stevie. I know a lad who went on holiday and the hotel had a pet parrot that would talk to the guests etc. He got back to the hotel pissed one night and tried to set it free. Culminated in him chucking its cage in the air only for it to land in the pool (I assume he thought that if it flapped its wings it could carry itself and the cage - he could only look on as cage and parrot sank to the bottom. Jill 0
My friend moved down to Norfolk a couple of years ago and was disappointed when her boyfriend brought his caged bird into their new home. Every time I used to see her she whinged about how noisy it was and how it shouldn't be in a cage anyway so I always used to joke that when I went down there for her wedding I'd set it free. The wedding was a few weeks ago and I met the bird for the first time - didn't see what her fuss was about really because it barely moved and didn't make a sound. So naturally I joked that it didn't want them to get married, etc, etc. The bloody thing died on their wedding day and the groom was late for the evening do because he'd been burying it. Think that made my friend's wedding day perfect tbh.

I thought the lad next door was taking the piss when he told me about it, but you can hear it going mental in his back yard sometimes. Sounds like Cheetah having a bad day. I'm not surprised if it has to watch you parading around in the rick in your first floor conservatory lean-to.
Jusoda Kid 1
Was at a house party a while back, canny night. Sees the lass who's party it was a couple of days later and when i asked if there was any damage she starts crying. Turns out someone had taken her budgie out the cage and cellotaped it up and put it back on it's perch. Lost all it's feathers in the removal process. Not very nice but I admit i did laugh

Guest stevieintoon
The dee some shitein mind. His cage was clean when he came, but there's shite all over the cage now. I tried teaching it to sing "Graeme Souness is a wanker, is a wanker" last night, but it just stared back at me like I'm a daft twat. FWIW I think keeping birds should be highly illegal, they're supposed to be flying in the sky not stuck in a cage in someones hoose. You can understand cats and dogs as pets for lonely people, but birds - nah. Edited June 12, 2007 by stevieintoon
