Reo-Coker in Toon plea

NIGEL REO-COKER has begged Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce to end his West Ham nightmare.

Reo-Coker is desperate to quit Upton Park and would love the chance to link up with Allardyce at St James’ Park.

Big Sam, who continues to track Manchester City bad-boy Joey Barton, tried to land the England Under-21 skipper for Bolton last season but Hammers boss Alan Curbishley refused to let him go.

Now, with Scott Parker on his way to East London, Reo-Coker wants a chance to fill the void.

New Trotters boss Sammy Lee continues to keep tabs on the midfielder, 23, who is available for around £8million.

His agent Tony Finnegan said: “Sam Allardyce knows how to get in contact with Nigel and we would welcome a call.

“If Sam said he wanted to speak, Nigel would be on the train in a shot. It would be very interesting to see what his plans are for Newcastle.”

Meanwhile, Mike Ashley’s Toon takeover moved a step closer last night when the club’s board agreed to consider his offer.

A statement released to the Stock Exchange said: “The board of Newcastle United announces that there was a meeting with Mike Ashley and his team at which there was a useful and constructive discussion.

“The board will now consider its response to the offer from St James Holdings Ltd.”

Ashley owns a 41.6 per cent stake in the club after buying Sir John Hall’s shares. He will release a statement to shareholders next week detailing his vision for Newcastle.

Stock Exchange rules say the 43-year-old must submit a formal takeover bid.

He is hopeful of further progress by the end of next week.

Fuck off. Its like we are regressing to the twatish days of dyer, bramble, bellamy and JJ again

Couldn't agree more. He's had one good season too and he's worth £8million? Got the potential to be a very good player though.

How is he worth £8m when Parker is apparently only worth £7.5? What a load of bullshit, £4m maybe but I don't see the point.

forgot to add, he had a handful of outstanding games in their 05-06 season, and was excellent in the cup final

too incosistent, and too full of himself.

doesn't create enough or score enough goals, worth about £3m in the current market.

Aye I've not seen him play that much but he's looked good to fairly average depending..... and I can't see how £8m is justified if Parker is less than that tbh.

Think it maybe be another Cashly Cole/Dyer/Bellemy thing.

....shame we haven't been linked with kevin nolan.

now he's a player.

I think he's about the same stamp as Barton tbh. I think both are probably a tad overrated.

Nolan would also cost at lot more. Does manage not to beat up his team mates. All though not forgiven him for shoving ramage early in the season. ;)

nolan scores goals too though and can play further up the field.

barton reminds me a bit of jenas and parker. is he a defensive midfielder? is he an attacking midfileder? i don't think even he knows tbh

He only managed 3 in the league this season. I don't if he was maybe playing a more defensive role since the arrival of Anelka though.

his return from midfield is pretty decent...better than most of our 'attacking' midfielders

01-02 Bolton 8 Goals, 35 Games

02-03 Bolton 1 Goals, 33 Games

03-04 Bolton 9 Goals, 37 Games

04-05 Bolton 4 Goals, 36 Games

05-06 Bolton 8 Goals, 36 Games 2 Goals, 7 Games (UEFA Cup)

06-07 Bolton 3 Goals, 31 Games

I agree, just pointing out that this season he was not at his goal scoring best. ;)

Nolan was absolutely awful this season. Even their fans were wanting him dropped. Not sure of the reason for that though, as he's usually a canny player.

really? i can't say i've seen a lot of bolton recently but he's always impressed me whenever i've seen him.

i've always thought he was unlucky not to get an england cap behind the likes of jenas, phil neville, kieron richardson et al
