Tottenham are weighing up a shock move for Newcastle United striker Michael Owen.

The Daily Express says Spurs are ready to meet the £9 million buyout clause that Owen's Toon deal carries. Tottenham boss Martin Jol will watch Owen in action against Brazil this weekend and is now leaning towards bringing the England international to White Hart Lane in the summer.

Owen will stay for 1 more season at least, it's nailed on. He does'nt give a fuck about champions league football, all he care's about is his big fat pay cheque, and as long as we pay it he won't be going anywhere.

I thought all he cared about was England.

Owen may stick it out - he's on good money, they are still picking him for England

If Arsenal or ManU come in I think we're sunk but I'm not sure he fancies going to work under RAFA (a man who thought that Craig Bellamy and Crouch were Owen replacements FFS) and there is no space at Chelski

Everton, Bolton, Reading, the Boro can't pay the bill

Spurs are much the same as SJP and there is the chance of serious investment this summer here

stick around until Xmas i think

if his form continues as it has been since he came back from injury we'd do well to get £9m for him

Barring 5 or so games last summer he's played virtually no football for a year and a half. I'm not surprised he's rusty tbh.

i'll be (pleasantly) surprised if he recovers to be as effective a player as he was before he did his knee. he looks to have lost a yard of pace to me. i hope for our sake that his restricted movement is just lack of match sharpness.
