Matt 0
I'd bin the licence because it's an outdated way of funding. No way would I advocate the privatisation of the BBC though.

Jimbo 175
I think it needs an overhaul; ultimately it’s a tax purely for the benefit of the BBC, the fact that anyone buying a TV HAS to buy one whether they have any intention of watching BBC or not is plainly wrong. Yeah, If I had a choice of either paying or not having it then I wouldn't fork out. Could live without BBC radio as well tbh.

Happy Face 29
The BBC should never be forced to advertise, any level of impartiality and accountability it currently has must be maintained. I think the lisence is for your tv, not for receiving the BBC. Since they get the money though, i think it's excellent value and would gladly pay it and maintain standards rather than have them rely on international sales of teletubbies and Bob the Builder to survive and a turn towards ITV style shows (like channel 4 have required to survive after starting as an alternative and intelligent channel). Question Time, Newsnight, Panorama etc all blow the other channels out of the water for coverage of current affairs. You also have BBC Four which is probably the best channel on TV (after SSN) , loads of Radio, The armed forces service, the world service and the excellent website. I'm about to take part in a trial that puts 80 years of BBC archives on the website that sounds excellent too, if this is a free service to UK residents it could be superb. Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
I watch a fair bit of BBC tv, listen to their radio stations and use their web pages so I don't mind the 30-odd pence a day it costs me. Outstanding value for money when you look at it that way.
DanTheMan 0
Like Kenneth says, it's only about 35p a day, I spend more than that on gum! And the reason you can't 'not watch' BBC and not pay is because the license pays for the radio and web as well, which can't really be blocked. When you think of all it pays for (about 7 TV stations, 50 odd radio stations, probably the best news site in the world) it is excellent value for money.
