I am not making this up by the way, it's Endemol's newest show that they're gonna be running in the Netherlands. ewerk 31600
Something similar to Bart's April Fools prank in the Simpsons I'd imagine, give them a six pack and one of them explodes in their face, the twist is that actually all of them explode. I think the worst bit about this is how the final winner would be announced, you cant even start to imagine the looks on the losers faces as they realise that frankly their last shred of hope has just gone. Its sick beyond belief.

JawD 99
That is totally shocking, I actually laughed when I heard this on the news this morning, not out of humour but from total astonishment that anyone would actually do this. More so when people started being interviewed saying it was acceptable as it raised the issue of the lack of donors!

Guest alex
Endemol reckon it's to highlight the lack of organ donors. I doubt it personally. A UK doctor on the news pointed out it isn't really ethical to decide which patient gets an organ transplant on the basis of a popularity contest. Slight understatement there. catmag 337
We were talking about this at work last night. Some random (and often tongue-in-cheek) thoughts included... - Will the grand finale show be showing a live feed of the donor kidney being harvested from the clinically dead donor and into the winner. At the point of transplantation will they have cheering crowds and fireworks? - Why is the terminally ill patient only donating one kidney when they have two healthy ones? - What happens if the recipient's body rejects the donor kidney? (Other than the obvious, of course) Bit of an anti-climax really. - If there are votes to decide who gets the kidney (therefore making it a popularity contest) then imagine being the person who comes last. Not only are you gonna die but it would appear that everyone hates you aswell. - Will they have tasks like bushtucker trials? "How badly do you want this kidney? Are you willing to eat this plate of shit to prove it?" Who says nurses are twisted? On a serious note, I love a good ethical dilemma but I don't even know where to begin with this one. It's just so wrong on so many levels.
ewerk 31600
There's no public vote, though the public can text in their advice and opinions. I thought it was just a one off episode? Not a series.

ewerk 31600
Three contestants aged between 18 and 40, all with kidney disease, will compete for public votes to secure the organ by making short films about their lives. Viewers can text the dying woman with messages about who should get the kidney Seems to sort of contradict itself there. Every other source I've seen says it's the woman's choice and she will only receive messages of advice.

Either way, it's a popularity contest and given Endemol's past I'd say this is more about courting controversy for ratings than raising awareness.
