Scottish Mag 3
DAVID BECKHAM is planning a sensational return to England with Newcastle in a bid to extend his international career. A delighted Beckham was last night celebrating his recall to the England set-up and plotting a way to make it a long-term return... with a winter loan deal to Tyneside on the cards. Beckham will join LA Galaxy next month but realises he has to be playing at the highest level to convince Steve McClaren of his ability to hold down a place in the England side. With the American MSL season ending in November, Beckham would be free to join a Premiership side on join a Premiership side on loan from January and play for three months back home, the same way Henrik Larsson did for Man United last season. New Toon boss Sam Allardyce would jump at the chance to take Beckham to Tyneside. He said last night: "If it is possible to get David Beckham to St James' Park, we would really go for it. I would love to have David on board." With the backing of billionaire Mike Ashley, who is likely to have bought Newcastle outright by then, the Geordies will have little trouble paying Beckham's massive wages. Jimbo 175
Los Angeles Galaxy coach Frank Yallop has insisted that David Beckham will not return to a European club on loan later this year. Beckham has been in fine form for Real Madrid over the last few months and earned a recall to the England squad on Saturday when Steve McClaren named his squad for the upcoming games against Brazil and Estonia. He will move to America this summer but reports have suggested he could return to the Premiership in November following the conclusion of the Major League Soccer season. The likes of Everton, Tottenham and Blackburn have been linked with a move for the midfielder, while Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce has already expressed a definite interest. "If it is possible to get David Beckham back to St James' Park, we would really go for it," Allardyce said in The People. "I would love to have him on board." However, Yallop has ruled out such a move, maintaining that Beckham has come to Los Angeles for a fresh challenge and will not be leaving in November. Yallop told Sky Sports News: "He won't be going on loan anywhere. He'll be taking a break at that point and getting ready for our pre-season. "He's shown that he's a world class player, he doesn't need to go back and go on loan anywhere." Beckham, who has so far made 94 appearances for England, appears to have been brought back as a stop-gap measure for the Euro 2008 qualifier against Estonia. However, Yallop believes Beckham will produce a starring performance and make it difficult for McClaren to drop him again. "I think that David is going to have such an impact when he joins the squad again that I think it will be difficult to leave him out to be honest," he explained. "We realise that David wants to get to the 100-cap plateau and we will never stop him doing that."

Scottish Mag 3
LA Galaxy president Alexei Lalas has admitted David Beckham could be loaned out to a European team, but this stance has not been adopted by the club's coach Frank Yallop. Beckham's return to the England fold has heightened speculation he could be loaned to a team in Europe when the MLS season ends in November, in order to boost his chances of playing at Euro 2008. Galaxy officials initially gave the rumour short shrift, but Lalas' stance has since softened. "We always consider possibilities that will make the player better as a soccer player and therefore make him a much more valuable asset because of that experience of going to play with another team on loan, or if we felt it made proper business sense and it is usually a combination of the two," Lalas said on Sky Sports News. Yallop, though, believes Beckham would be better served putting his feet up once the American season draws to a close. "We have a long season and a long pre-season, so he will need the break at the end of our season in October or November," said Yallop. "We will need to give him a break and he will need a test, so I don't see any loan deals going on with David." Beckham has not been drawn to comment on the speculation, but has made no secret of his desire to extend his England career and a loan move could suit the 32-year-old. It has to be a succesful team FFS I don't agree. He needs to be playing regularly, that's all. The US league finishes in November. There is no way that McClaren can pick him for the Euros if he hasn't played competitively since November, so he knows he needs to go to a high profile premiership club where he can play regularly. None of the top 4 could guarantee him that, Spurs probably wouldn't want to stunt Lennon's development, which leaves us as a pretty realistic option. manc-mag 1
Galaxy would want their heads examining if they let him out on loan tbh. And if they did their insurance premium should be enough to exhaust our entire transfer budget.
ewerk 31604
If he is to go on loan then moving to the PL would be a mistake IMO. To try and drop in mid season and pick up the pace of the league when he hasn't played in it for a few seasons would be very difficult. And he would be looking to be guaranteed a starting place wherever he went to regardless of the form of whoever would be the current RW.
