khay 10
Sheffield United insist they are confident of keeping Phil Jagielka at the club, despite a flurry of Premiership sides courting his services. Jagielka, who is scheduled to make his England B debut against Albania at Turf Moor on some stage on Friday night, has won an army of admirers following a series of accomplished displays in the Premier League last season. The likes of Everton, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Bolton, Manchester City, Wigan and West Ham have all been linked with his signature since the season came to a heartbreaking end for the Blades and new boss Bryan Robson faces a huge task in persuading Jagielka to stay at Bramall Lane. The Blades' plc chairman Kevin McCabe, however, has warned the Blades will not let the player leave without a fight. "Phil is under contract and it wasn't so long ago that he signed an extension here," McCabe told the Sheffield Star. "It's hardly surprising that other clubs are interested in a player of his quality and potential but of course we'd rather keep a hold of him. "Hopefully we can convince Phil that he can achieve what he wants by staying with us. "That's certainly what we will be trying to do." Should the Blades fail to persuade Jagielka to stay, the club can expect to collect a fee in the region of £5.5million for the versatile performer. Brock Manson 0
For £5.5 million he'd be a good signing imo. Need someone with versatility given how stretched the sqaud is.
gram 0
A decent mid table player. That price is way over the top.
