NJS 4456
If you're talking torrents then the most I've had is about 450/500 KB/s. The only thing that uses the full whack that I know of is binary newsgroup downloads.

I'm sure virgin started traffic shaping a few weeks ago - once youve downloaded a certain amount at peak times it then slashes your download speeds. Found it - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/05/08/vi...ide_throttling/

NJS 4456
I've read about the thottling and it makes broadband completely pointless imo. My 20Mb hasn't kicked in yet but as it says that will run out in 20 minutes in their peak period. I doubt I'll stay on the top package. They try and argue its thousands of songs - so fuck - its not thousands of DVDs. I'd love to know what they consider a true use of broadband is - to browse you only need 512 max. Jusoda Kid 1
Rang up and asked to be put through to an english call centre, they transferred me pronto, must get asked this all the time. The lad confirmed I should be getting over 1mb per sec and it could be down to the new throttling thing. I've downloaded 350mb today and it's obviously kicked in although there are problems in the NE6 area. 2 1/2 hours I've been on the phone to them, most of that talking to Indians who couldn't tell their name from a KB form a Korma, what a fucking waste of time, the english lad sorted it in 15 minutes. Heres the details on the throttling from Virgin themselves: http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/traffic.html
