@yourservice 67
Newcastle defender Steven Taylor has warned the club to sort out his future quickly. The England Under 21 international wants to sign a new long-term contract after being promised he would be awarded a new deal if he played a certain amount of games. Taylor is keen to stay at St James' Park and be involved in Sam Allardyce's revolution, but he has warned the club's board not to mess him around. Talks are set to get underway in the next few days and the highly-rated defender is anxious to get things sorted out. "We have to wait and see how that goes and how my future lies," Taylor told the Mirror. "I want to stay. It is up to the board what they want to do with me but I don't want to be messed about. "It is as simple as that. I have ambitions and it was agreed there would be an improved contract after a certain amount of games." Can't they just get on with playing and stop acting the fucking big man? Another case of nursing a youngster into a greedy twat

Guest alex
Taylor's vastly overrated for me. A lot to prove. Needs a decent partner and he has youth on his side but he's dropped some clangers. Played nearly 80 games now as well.
David Kelly 1280
You have to expect players of his age to drop clangers though. Adams did it till he was older than Taylor which was why he was called Donkey for years. And with the partners and lack of decent coaching Taylor has had you've got even more of an excuse. I'm not suggesting he's going to be as good as Terry or Woodgate but I do think he has the potential to be a strong Premiership player which is more than probably all but 2 of our centrebacks have been sine we were promoted! @yourservice 67
The trouble with him now,is that he's in pole position to big up his contract talks, knowing he's the only thought of defender at the club now,i would have said in a few years time he could do that when he's been established or whatever, but he's jumped the gun and getting big for his boots

sweetleftpeg 0
Should he really be coming out in the press and saying this? Can't any of our players just learn to shut the fuck up about certain subjects?

Can't any of our players just learn to shut the fuck up about certain subjects? I think I'd rather Taylor talks about his new contract than Bramble and Ameobi fanny about on "Cribs" or whatever it's called. But yes there's little to no need for yapping to the press about every little thing. Usually this sort of thing is the sign that the agent is trying to engineer a move out for the player. ewerk 31599
Aye well I agree who shouldn't be mouthing off about it unless the chairman has been messing him around but then again it's not even a week since the season finished and with everything else going on at the minute he's going to have a be patient. Scottish Mag 3
If Sam brings in a couple of centre halfs for next season I could see Taylor being played at RB quite a bit..

As Alex said, he's vastly over-rated, has only played for the first team since SBR's last game in charge when, quite frankly, we've gone backwards and it's not like he's shone through game after game... Stop being a greedy twat and get on with improving your game, THEN seek the contract you may deserve.

Stop being a greedy twat and get on with improving your game, THEN seek the contract you may deserve. Plenty of people decided he was Bobby Moore before they saw him play. He is ok. Not the world beater that many feel he is. Same with N'Zogbia really. People want to be the one who said, "told you he was the next xyz" The players would be better of without the hype. Believing their own hype is worse still.
Mark 0
I don't think people want to say "told you he was the next xyz" I just think 90% of our fans are completely deluded.
Craig 6702
Anyone who puts Taylor in the 'future England captain' bracket, and there's plenty who do, is completely lacking in control of their marbles. He's an average Premiership centre half, he's definitely no Terry, Woodgate, Campbell or Ferdinand.
