SSH's head has just exploded in fury.

The good news just doesn't stop coming !

So are you saying this is the man to get us back into the Champions League? How come Roeder was sacked when Pearce hasn't been in a similar situation? What experience does he have of managing a club like Newcastle? How many trophies has he won? Do you really think he will be given the time and resources to overhaul the club? ;)

And you know me from where ?

Have you listed those 57 staff members he had at Bolton that Newcastle don't already have? Do you still believe in this myth of unprofesionalism at NUFC?

Are you saying professional footballers need someone to tell them what to do during a match?

A couple of things attributed to Sam saying already:

Is going to sit down and have a chat with Owen over whether he wants to play for the toon or not.

All the digs about him playing long ball teams is nonsense, he plays whatever needs to be played to win games.

He's totally focused on his club job before any country opportunity that may arise, he's not interested in the England job as Newcastle's a massive job in itself.

The chairman's passion for the club and backing of his managers swung his decision amongst other things.

I've always said that Bolton playing 'ugly' is mostly media bollocks like, in the same way that every rag seems to think we;'d rather lose entertaining 4-3 games than win 1-0. I think it all came about because of Alan Green, who used it against Bolton when they beat his prescious Liverpool.

So very true. I remember the way Bolton played when the had the likes of Djorkaeff, Hierro and Jay-Jay Okocha. They weren't playing direct football then.

It all comes down to what SA has to work with in terms of playing talent. He'll have a bit more here, that's for certain ;)

Whilst I have my reservations about him (allegations, lack of proven winning experience etc), just reading about his backroom setup and how he approaches football management gives me hope. The nieve side of me would like to belive that FFS has done his homework this time and he wouldn't have touched him if it looked like he was dodgey.

He's forward thinking and aims to identify a players (and team) strengths and weaknesses and improve accordingly. This has got to be an improvement on what we've had.

Being self-contradicting, I would say that he hasn't won anything because he's not been able to assemble a team capable of winning due to funds. It's no secret that because of his large staff, his transfer budget was smaller. He's show he is capable of getting more out of players generally regarded as being finished and calming a few temprements and we could do with some of that here.

We've been going downhill now for a few seasons and I don't believe we can be as snobbey as we once might.

I've said in other another thread that his package means that we really should expect top 6 next season, but if he can knock a few underperformers into line we have a squad capable of this.

Time will tell, but he's here now so I believe we need to support him. Both Souness and Roeder were never given full support (from fans) and this will not have helped (nor did results, but I mean they never got it from the beginning).

Granted, managers (and players) have to earn our continued support, but they need a period of grace next season to allow him time to get things sorted.

Let's face it, it would take a hell of a lot to be worse than the shite we've had to sit through the last few years. Even Robson's last season was awfull on that front!

A lot of people seem to forget that, he had totally lost the players by the end.
