JawD 99
Absolutely shocking. Sorry like, I dont care how many of you disagree, I'm strongly for harsh punishment and dont give two shites about human rights. Put me in charge of the jails, I'd sort the fuckers out. Jusoda Kid 1
5 years automatically if you get caught carrying a knife in an urban area and don't have a feasible explanation for it. JawD 99
Aye, and Id also take away most entertainment. Enforce education and exams that must be passed for any early release to be considered. Any single blip on release and you are straight back in. Entertainment will come in forms of sports/fitness (ie, 1hr break to play footie). Not enough space? Easy, Those criminals with offences involving violence are dealy with much harsher sentencing. Murders, rapists, child crime etc where there is no doubt over blame (ie dna etc) and put to death. Police should also be able to stop and search for no reason at all anyone they see, more so groups of kids handing around. This though means we need more police patrolling obvious places. /rant

Guest alex
Why should the police be allowed to stop and search people for no reason? Totally against that tbh. Different if they have reason to believe people are up to no good. Kids loitering and hassling people etc. would fall into that category.

Of course if Im walking to the shop minding my own business I dont expect to be searched because the police were bored. Then again, if I fit a description of someone they are looking for, why not? Ive nothing to hide. If people stopped pussy footing around being scared to upset people (like the kids carrying knives) maybe we'd be able to clamp down on it. But yeah, of course stopping someone for no reason isnt good, but its pretty easy for the police to have a reason if they really wanted. I also think random checks in schools would be a good idea to check for things such as knives etc. On the searching though, why would the police stop and search for no reason? I'm really thinking of groups of kids hanging around etc.

I'm very concerned about people's 'human rights' but, the way I see it, the rights of the majority of the population to walk around feeling relatively safe is a far greater one than the rights of some people not to be searched. You need some safeguards in law though to stop the police abusing their positions too. Justice and liberty are at stake. As an aside I think a huge problem is not enough police on the beat in areas where anti-social behaviour etc. is a problem.
JawD 99
Aye totally. The biggest flaw in my idea of having police in the "right" area's to stop and search is the complete lack of police to do it. Plus, I also assume that each Police officer is well versed on what he is doing and use his/her powers without abusing them. Sadly my head is in the clouds a bit there...
