Park Life 71
Been watching you for a while fatty and have some inkling of the cogs and gears - the whirrings of the FS psyche. So I feel I know that this time you have stuck to your guns and not let things cloud your mind and set aside your sometimes petty ego driven descisions. You took it on the chin that 'Big Sam' turned you down before, but you have stuck to your gut feeling that he is the man (for what it's worth many of us agree on nearly all the rationale). For you this is a quantum move and shouldn't be underestimated. Also you have resisted the overtures of Sven's cash train and shown his advisors the door (again history will probably prove you were right). To complete the hatrrick you never even called Houllier back, knowing deep down that for all his skills his mind is probably too weak for this job, let alone his heart....The French league after all is semi-retirement. And finally getting Roeder out before pre-season and the summer shows you are getting the hang of this job and who knows one day you might be a natural. Well done Fatty!! Guest alex
At least with Allardyce we've appointed a manager who is 'on the up' in career terms imo. When was the last time we did that?

Well done for appointing the highest placed English manager, maintaining your record from last year. Seven of the bottom eight managed by Englishmen at one point in the season. None of the top 5. David Kelly 1245
I'm not buying the fact Houllier called us at all. Very ignorant of the fat man not to call him back if he did. I am in favour of fatty bringing Allardyce in as despite him having no record of taking teams on to trophy winning glory he really does tick nearly every box in terms of what I (and I think most fans whether they realise it or not) want in our manager. That said I doubt the decision has been made on any sound strategic basis and is more likely a case of just going for someone who is available and high profile! Quoted for its truth and logic. Might I pose a question here. When was the last time we got in a new manager bang on in line to when the off-season started??? My memory aint what it used to be Edited May 14, 2007 by Ken

MrMiyagi 0
I think appointing such a strong willed manager is also a declaration of fatty willing to keep himself out of things and not meddle as he so famously does, which is also a good thing. Papa Lazaru 0
Agree with most of this thread, as i've said elsewhere, he (and his team) are known by reputation to be good at sorting out so much of what is a disgrace at this club. He's on the up as Alex said and for once will have a pre-season and money instead of coming in after the season has started. And if Fat Fred has finally shown some "planning" and has even better, identified some of the faults at out club, got the man to sort them and will let him, then who knows, he may even end next season with a bit of praise...the fat cunt! When did we last have a manager who wasn't interfered with / undermined by Fred, or was allowed to change the entire playing staff before his results were judged? It just will not happen. If Sam can't get the majority of the current players working, he's fooked in my opinion.

I think we all know though that the fat bastard reacts to the fans, so if anyone has the resposibility to sit back and not panic (providing we see signs of improvement) then its the fans as this will be transmitted to the chairman. With Villa and O'Neil they hardly set the world alight this year, but people have said their fans could clearly see signs of change, knew that behind the scenes things were being worked on and that he has made them hard to beat, they just lacked the creativity. So the fans haven't been stupid and have backed the manager in what he's doing. If toon fans do the same i think Allardyce can completely overhaul our club for the better in the mid to long term and we will feel the benefits of that for years to come whatever he does. But also i think he'll do enough short term to keep Fat Fred from off his back as well. I'm quietly confident!
