Lazarus 0
http://www.ubuntu.com/ First impressions were great - you just download the image file, burn it to a cdrom and then boot the entire OS from the cd. Fantastic stuff - Bill Gates can fuck right off I said. I then repartitioned my 'c' drive to add a 15gig 'u' drive and installed ubingo or whatever the fuck its called on it. I can now dual boot. Now i realised that not all windows based software works on linux but its a fucking nightmare. firefox is installed with the OS and i thought i could just backup my xp profile and then somehow import it into the umbongo firefox. Can i fuck! Cant install msn messenger Cant signin to hotmail Managed to download vlc player and had a johnny Drama VICTORY! moment but cant get vlcplayer to be the default media player Everything you do requires you to enter a password - cant even delete anything. havnt even bothered looking at trying to install football manager cos i know it'll make my hemorrhoids flare up But it looks good - and it 'feels good' to use

Super_Steve_Howey 0
"Now i realised that not all windows based software works on linux" It's almost as if billionaire Bill doesn't want you to use other operating systems. Just not cricket.
Kevin Carr's Gloves 4098
Anybody got a copy of that speech by the manager of general motors replying to Bill Gates comment that if the car industry had progressed as fast as the computer industry we would all be driving flying cars that run on solar power? ewerk 31678
Anybody got a copy of that speech by the manager of general motors replying to Bill Gates comment that if the car industry had progressed as fast as the computer industry we would all be driving flying cars that run on solar power? I think the whole thing was just a myth but here's GM's supposed response. In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release stating: If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics: 1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day. 2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car. 3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull over to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this. 4. Occasionally, executing a manoeuvre such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine. 5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five percent of the roads. 6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation" warning light. 7. The airbag system would ask "Are you sure?" before deploying. 8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna. 9. Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car. 10. You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off.

khay 10
I believe this is what my girlfriend uses. You can get something called "wine" to run windows programmes all though they wont run as fast as on windows and not all of them will work. She got FM05 working for me bar it did not show you where the cursor was. I believe that linux is far to much hassle just to watch porn/FM/internet and uni work.
