Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Peter Hook Says New Order Splitby Staff | 05.10.2007 New Order have split up, according to bassist Peter Hook. Speaking to Xfm about his involvement in Perry Farrell's new group Satellite Party, Hook said: "I spoke to Perry [Farrell], and he asked me to play bass [with Satellite Party], as he'd heard about New Order splitting up. Well yeah, me and Bernard [sumner] aren't working together." When asked if the split was permanent, Hook added: "Bernard went off for a break with Electronic, but that was different. But it's like the boy who cried wolf this time." Hook later posted on his MySpace page saying that he was relieved to have finally told the world about the band's split. No word on if this will effect the band making an apperance at the May 17th Cannes premiere of Control, the new film about the life of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis. New Order are said to have re-recorded a number of Joy Division tracks for the film, along with some "incidental music." Meanwhile, guitarist Phil Cunningham is back as a member of the newly reformed band Marion. Shame really. A great and influential band who probably went on a couple of albums too many. http://www.filter-mag.com/index.php?id=14433&c=1 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6644087.stm

gram 0
Last album was pretty good. Saw them a few times in the old days and few times recently. Thought they were as good as ever live. Still...
tinofbeans 91
got most of their stuff and they had run out of ideas by the mid 90's. very good group who weren't any good live. hooky is one of the best bassists i've ever seen, and barney sumner was one of the best producers/ writers i've ever witnessed. he helped produce a number of decent albums outside of new order as well. they'll be missed. Crystal was probably the best song they've did recently.

Park Life 71
They should all be living in Milan knocking out minimal ambient- techno and giving interviews about vegetariansm or recording with Brian Eno in a cave in Guadelupe. No imagination these cunts.
