@yourservice 67
Michael Owen is set to appear in an England shirt later this month after being named in their B squad to face Albania. Owen has only just returned to club duty with Newcastle United after spending virtually all of the season on the sidelines with a knee injury. The former Liverpool and Real Madrid ace is unlikely to have chairman Freddy Shepherd's blessing as he collected his injury at last summer's World Cup finals in Germany. Preston striker David Nugent is set for another run out at international level and he could play alongside Alan Smith, who is returning to his best following a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Paul Robinson will vie with Ben Foster for the job between the sticks, while defender Joleon Lescott has been rewarded for his excellent season with Everton with a call-up. Uncapped quartet Nicky Shorey, Phil Jagielka, David Bentley and Michael Dawson are all included and will be hoping to impress with a view to playing in this summer's Euro 2008 qualifiers. Full England B squad: Paul Robinson (Tottenham), Ben Foster (Man United, on loan at Watford); Phil Neville (Everton), Joleon Lescott (Everton), Michael Dawson (Tottenham), Ledley King (Tottenham), Gareth Barry (Aston Villa), Nicky Shorey (Reading); Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Phil Jagielka (Sheffield United), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), Kieron Dyer (Newcastle), Scott Parker (Newcastle), Jermaine Jenas (Tottenham), Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough), David Bentley (Blackburn); Michael Owen (Newcastle), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Alan Smith (Man United), David Nugent (Preston)
TheMoog 0
I've got no problem with Owen playing for England as long as he's fit enough... however, if he goes against the wishes of his wage payers to do so and gets himself injured I would sue the arse off him and the FA if I were running NUFC. ewerk 31631
What the fuck is the point in putting Robinson in the B squad? What exactly is Mc Claren going to learn about him that he doesn't already know? Fucking pointless.

Also, what does he think he might learn about Phil Neville that he doesn't know already?
@yourservice 67
What will he learn altogether with a squad of players together for the first time playing against Albania?.

Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Is Nolan not even good enough for the B squad then? Scott Carson and Robert Green would surely have been better choices as keepers for a game like this.

Guest alex
Anyone know what the B team is for? Who manages it? How long has Parker been in it? Just low-key 'friendly' matches that aren't full internationals I think. McClaren picks the team but we hardly ever play them. Wasn't there one in the summer of 2005? Seem to remember Crouch playing. I've more interest in the England team than the ROI team atm for certain reasons.

Fair enough, but if you're choosing teams to take interest in England would not be the top of my list.
