Super_Steve_Howey 0
I'd be relatively okay with Allardyce simply because under current club ownership, there's no way we'd make an inspired/adventurous appointment a la Wenger/Benitez. That's pretty much what Happy Face is saying.

Super_Steve_Howey 0
Is it? It's fine that people want a different manager for the different situation we're in (though I think we're very similarly positioned, certainly in terms of league placing and perhaps better off having the summer as we do for someone new to come in and sort things out) but I don't like Shepherd being able to say he gave the fans what they want...again, when most fans want his head on a stick. Do we as fans want Allardyce because he's the best man for the job or because Shepherd could do a lot worse and has never displayed an ability to do any better? Accepeting that's the case is letting Shepherd off the hook IMO. Look at the Sven/Houllier/Allardyce poll. I'd be relatively okay with Allardyce simply because under current club ownership, there's no way we'd make an inspired/adventurous appointment a la Wenger/Benitez. adios 717
The gleeeful acceptance of Allardyce is shocking when no-one (apart from Luckyluke) wanted him before and Shepherd should be lambasted for lowering expectations to such a degree. Sorry, but that's just bollocks. I've had a look at a lot of older threads yesterday and there were many who wanted him full time last time (ahead of Roeder) - myself included. +1 HF- Back to the film books for you, I'm afraid. Here's a reminder of what some people said about "Big Sam" then... From a Newcastle point of view, I hope he gets the England job. If you think the football's bad to watch under Souness..... We dont have enough long ball merchants for Sam Not for me thankyou. Anyway, he had his chance and bottled it. He wouldn't be my choice at all but if you gave me the option of Allardyce or Souness, I'd take Allardyce, but its like being asked if you would rather have Cancer or AIDS. And there's more, (with some all for it admittedly, not as many as now though) http://www.toontastic.net/forum/index.php?...ic=1677&hl= I understand times/opinions change, but if Shepherd brings in "Big Sam" he's just perpetuating the revolving door situation that keeps attention away from his failings. As fans we're begging for it by blaming Roeder over Shepherd. I see little benefit from going down this path again. -

Gemmill 47009
Who wanted Roeder last time round out of interest? Gemmill When we appointed Roeder I posted in various places that it felt like an opportunity missed to really get someone decent in. At least I had the sense to realise a long time ago that he needed to go - until a week or so ago you wanted him here next season.

Not many people could be as bad as Roeder, but then that's why we accepted him in the first place ("at least it's not Souness"). How long are we going to have to be grateful for mini mercys?
