                              NEWCASTLE UNITED PLC

The Directors of Newcastle United PLC wish to announce that the transfer of

Jermaine Jenas (22) from Newcastle United to Tottenham Hotspur has been

finalised this morning.

The amount payable to Newcastle United by Tottenham Hotspur for the transfer of

the player's registration is £7million plus further sums, which are contingent

on player appearances and European competition qualification.

So it will remain 7 million or does anybody believe Jenas will make sufficient appearances and/or Spurs will qualify for Europe...

We'll probably end up with 8m on appearances and miss out on another 1m from European Qualification unless it's in the next 3 years or so, in which case, maybe.

Makes Spurs' stock market announcement earlier seem a little underhanded now.

Part of the Jenas fee also goes to Forest.

I agree that Tottenham will challenge strongly for europe, good bet to make it, in spite of them signing Jeanarse, but I'll be interested to see how Jol plays him.
