smoggeordie 0
DAMIEN Duff has kicked his last ball of the season after Glenn Roeder confirmed the Irish winger will be ruled out of United's four remaining fixtures because of an ankle injury. The 28-year-old limped out of Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Fratton Park and underwent a scan on Sunday to assess the extent of the damage. Roeder said: "While an X-ray has shown there is no break, Damien has a badly swollen ankle, and our medical people tell us that he will not be able to play again this season. "It's bad luck for Damien coming at a time when he was beginning to show the sort of form we have been looking for from him." Duff will miss this Sunday's game against his former club Chelsea at St.James' Park, as well as the home fixture against former employers Blackburn Rovers on May 5.
