Jimbo 175
Final episode tonight, I've enjoyed both series, but the star of the show has been Gene Hunt, what a character, its got to the point where I couldn't give a toss about Sam Tyler, a spin off series about Gene Hunt set in the 80's is planned, can't wait ! Tom_NUFC 0
It is absolutely execellent. There should be plenty of torrents around of both series. Mind you don't download the German ones though. Before I bought series 1 on DVD I was downloading torrents, starting them up only to find they were dubbed in German.
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Enjoyed it. The Gene Hunt spin-off has potential to be good as well. They are done by the same people as Spooks and Hustle. The Beeb have got a good production team there.

Renton 22409
I gave up on the second series tbh. Watched the last episode though, which was deadly predictable, already done so much better by the likes of Total Recall. But unlike the Arnie film, it didn't really make sense. It's like they had a vague idea where they were going but ended up cobbling together the ending in their tea break.
Tom_NUFC 0
I think it made perfect sense. They've been talking about it on the radio this morning and I think they've got it completely wrong because the way they've interpreted it doesn't make sense, but I think the way I interpreted does make sense. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but pay attention to what Nelson says and think about previous episodes. Think about the rooftop scene in the first ever episode and it makes sense. Living a parallel life set in the 1970s doesn't really make sense to me I'm afraid. The roof top scene was a nice touch and a bit reminiscent of a scene in Total Recall where Quaid made his choice. However, in that film it made perfect sense. If you take out the "twist", you are left with a fairly hackneyed nostalgia trip imo.
spongebob toonpants 4183
I am with Renton. The first series was entertaining enough but the end was a cheat, just to stretch it to another series. I started watching this series but I had no interest and again the end was a cop out
Jimbo 175
I thought it was superb, full of twists, predictable ? well there were only ever a couple of possible outcomes and they kept you guessing to the very end. Just Fucking Brilliant !
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Mars drama 'could spark bullying' TV shows such as BBC One's Life on Mars risk sparking homophobic bullying, according to a teachers' union. In Tuesday's final episode the character DCI Gene Hunt used a series of insults including "fairy boy". Chris Keates of the NASUWT believes such language is "worrying" as children may not be taught that using this kind of abuse is wrong. A BBC spokeswoman said the character is "extreme" and "tongue-in-cheek". The ponce.

Portrayal of the 1970s as "a bit less tolerant than today" shocker! You'd think someone in a teachers' union might have something actually useful to do with their time... Renton 22409
This example is bull shit, but it does raise the question of which is more important, historical accuracy or present day PCness. Personally I think the former is more important, as long as people are aware of the context, which patently they should be in LoM, unless they are morons. I would imagine phrases like 'fairy boy' are about as inoffensive as it gets in the school playground.

A drama on the slave trade where Africans are transported in luxury cruise liners with their own cabins and the slave traders apologising for the state of the food?[/daily mailtastic]
