MrMiyagi 0
Anyone ever been to Aintree and watched it? Thinking of buying a couple of tickets off one of the wanker-ebay-touts and was just wondering what it's like as a day out and if there's any places to avoid sitting? MrMiyagi 0
There's no such thing as a reliable tip in the national . I think it'll be between last years winners again, simply because last year's won so convincingly, and Hedgehunter is always up there, and Ruby Walsh is a man of top form. Can't see Dun Doire doing much, can't understand why his odds are so short.

"There's no such thing as a reliable tip in the national" Yep couldnt agree more with any field that size its little more than a cavalry charge... favourites get brought down by donkeys or buffeted out of contention... Tooj 17
Been out of the horse racing game for a while like so gonna have to studiously take note of some of the form etc before Saturday.
Sima 0
Been out of the horse racing game for a while like so gonna have to studiously take note of some of the form etc before Saturday. Why? The National is purely pot luck, any horse out of 15 could win it

Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Does anyone know which is the biggest horse in the field this year? I've tipped them a few times in the National and had decent success with each-ways.
Super_Steve_Howey 0
much like catmag, I put a quid on all the ones that wear black and white I usually back 3 or 4 sensibly, and have gone for Hedgehunter the last 2 years aswell.

MrMiyagi 0
Black Jack Ketchum in the Baltika Beer Aintree Hurdle at 2.50 on Saturday lads. Was unlucky to fall last time out, and the time before that was beaten by the heavy ground. With it likely to be good ground on Saturday, expect him to return to his awesome self. Probably pick him up at around 3 or 4s. Providing it doesn't piss down I think he'll walk it. Edited April 11, 2007 by MrMiyagi
Ally 0
I always stick a couple of quid on the horse with the best name, ideally around 10/12-1 ish. Like fuck am I going to buy the Racing Post and study form though
sweetleftpeg 0
When I worked in the betting shops it was the one day of the year that the regulars would be nowhere to be seen. Even those with gambling addictions wouldn't bet on it. It was a nightmare before they scrapped the tax as well, people handing over £20 notes and asking for a '£1 win with the tax on please'. MrMiyagi 0
BJ Ketchum Races in the 2pm at Aintree today. He's being pretty heavily backed, you can still get him at 2s if you go to the right places. I really can't see any other horse winning this! Aye, it was pretty much seen as a mug's bet when I worked there an'all. National Day was horrendous though - queues out the door from the minute the place opened, and people turning up with their bet scrawled on post it notes and allsorts. "No, you'll have to put it on a betting slip."...."Eeeeee well how do I do that?"....."Can you even write? " Amazing how many people had no grip of basic maths either: "Yeah the tax is 10%" "*blank stare* Well how much will that be on a fiver." "*dumbfounded*"

Guest alex
You're btter off having a quid on the sweep at work than having a bet on the National. Just a bit of fun though really I suppose.

Is 3s in decimal odds the same as 3/1? Fairly sure 3.00 decimal is 2/1. Anyway, anyone else backing this? I stand to lose 30 quid if he trips over a fence again I remember watching him last time he won and I was in awe. Took me back to the days of Moscow flyer in his prime!
