Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock:

"I would be very surprised if (boss) Glenn Roeder thinks they are safe on 37 points because I don't think that is going to be enough.

"They have not had good results of late and he will be desperate for them to get back to winning ways so they can look forward to getting on the beach.

"I think we should be up where Newcastle are so that's disappointing."

#

Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder:

"Easter is an important period and we have two good games that we are all looking forward to.

"The game against Sheffield United will certainly be a scrap and we have to make sure we're prepared for a battle.

"We have had a disappointing run of late and my weekend was ruined by the defeat to Manchester City last week."

BIG-MATCH FACTS

SHEFFIELD UNITED take on Newcastle in what have become worrying days for the Blades. Manager Neil Warnock has seen a comfortable 10-point gap above the relegation line gradually evaporate. The Blades have only averaged a point a game this season, which is relegation form.

Yorkshire's only Premiership club have scored just one goal in four winless outings. That was netted by leading scorer Rob Hulse against Everton on 3 March, just one match before his season prematurely came to an end with a double fracture of the leg sustained at Chelsea a fortnight later.

The Blades are vying for a 50th competitive victory over Newcastle. They won the only previous home Premiership match against the Magpies in 1994, and are unbeaten in six home League games against them. A second half goal from Danny Webber was enough to secure all three points at St James' Park in November, and gives them the chance of a first 'double' this season. They last enjoyed home and away League victories over Newcastle in 1978-79 in the second tier, and last achieved it in the top flight in 1971-72.

NEWCASTLE UNITED travel south in danger of tumbling to three defeats on the trot for the third time in this Premiership season. They're also in danger of a fourth successive League defeat on the road.

Glenn Roeder's side appear to have hit the wall after defeat in the Uefa Cup. They've not scored in five of the last six in all competitions, and the match against Sheffield United brings together the bottom two in the Premiership's "Last Six Current Form" table with four points a piece from the last 18 available.

The Magpies have gained just two points from six League visits to Bramall Lane, and not won there in a League fixture since the 1-2 success on 19 August 1972 (top tier).

Looking at that we are practically full strength and it still looks like a pretty shit squad.

At least there's no Babayaro.

Good to see that he's once again gone for the ultra attack-minded midfield pairing of Butt and Parker. :icon_lol:

I'd prefer Baba at left back than Carr.

0-0.

Bright start from us but Sheff Utd coming into it now, they've just had a few corners in a row putting us under pressure.

Sunderland beating Wolves 1-0, Liverpool beating Reading 1-0.
