Scottish Mag 3
Newcastle have handed a trial to Olympiakos' Turkish left-back Erol Bulut. Bulut, 32, will be a free agent upon the expiry of his Olympiakos contract in June and is hoping to impress Glenn Roeder sufficiently to earn a permanent contract. Bulut travelled to the North East of England on Tuesday and is expected to remain with The Magpies until 10th April. The player underwent a preliminary medical on Wednesday morning and will officially commence his trial period on Thursday. And, after falling out of favour with his Greek employers, Bulut admitted he jumped at the opportunity. "I wanted to stay with Olympiakos but I had no chance to play football there," Bulut is quoted as saying in Greek daily FOS. "I didn't get the chance to show what I could do. I hope to prove my worth and stay at Newcastle, who are one of the biggest clubs in the Premiership."

Scottish Mag 3
What was the reason we were not interested in the likes of Campbell again? Only going to show much like the signing of Sib that Roeder doesn nothing but talk shite..

Fop 1
Frankly if he's better than anything we have (not hard) and is cheap (he should be fairly given it's just wages) and will accept a short contract then why not? Even if he's just cover would it really be that shocking to have LB cover that is actually a LB?

geordieshandy 0
Ah well, let's hope he's decent. Can he play this season? Divin't think so, seeing as he's not out of contract until June.
Isegrim 10035
Hmm, his agent is a former player of my local club (Koutsoliakos). Can't remember having him ever seen and it seems that he wasn't includedin the national squads recently. Very strange trial, it contradicts (again) nearly everything Roeder said in the past. I just hope that he isn't just meant to be a back up for Babayaro. I maybe could live with a transfer if another first choice left back came in though...
