Scottish Mag 3
Reports in Germany claim that Newcastle failed with attempt to land Wolfsburg star Andres D'Alessandro. The Magpies dispatched a delegation to watch the Argentine international in action during Wolfsburg's 1-1 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach earlier in the month and were clearly impressed with what they saw. It is understood the Premiership outfit were prepared to pay £1 million to take the 24-year-old on a season-long loan, but were rebuffed by the German outfit. Wolfsburg were not prepared to let the player depart as they felt they did not have sufficient time to find a replacement. Newcastle are not the first team to have failed to prise the talented playmaker from the German outfit this summer. Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna were the first club to register their interest, but failed to agree a deal, as Wolves are unwilling to let their €9.5 million recruit leave for a sum below what they paid. Tottenham were then mooted as suitors but also cooled their interest on hearing of Wolfsburg's demands.
