At home I have a wireless network where the main PC and 2 laptops connect and share. I've just bought and setup a new PC to replace my rather old one and Im connected to the network no bother ie I have Internet through the router but cant seem to see the network and view other PCs.

Im now on Vista and cant find the usual way to set up the network.

Try Control Panel > Network and internet > Network and sharing center > Connect to a network

Done that and Im in, what I've realised is that the original PC wasnt sharing its stuff even though it was set up to, the drives show it as being shared but when you attempt to access it from another it says I dont have the access rights to do so.

Still having problems,

the network can be seen on each of the machines I have. The main PC can see each of the three laptops and can access their drives however none of the other machines can access each other. As far as I can tell I've done the same setups on all of them.

The main PC and the newest laptop is running Vista Pro, the other two laps are running XP.

Over to you :D

How exactly are you trying to access the drives?

\\[machine name]\[sharename] ?

What if you map a drive using a user which has been setup and given permiissions on all of the machines?

Have you added an exception to file and print sharing on the windows firewall?

Yes, although it shows the laptop as being there, when you try and access it, it searches for a while then says \\ADMIN-PC cannot be found.

Tried that, no joy.

I've even tried turning the Firewall off, no joy.

After much mucking around I managed to share the media onto the laptop but no further.
