Drink warm milk.

Have a wank/sex.

Repeatedly headbutt the headboard of your bed until you lose consciousness.

..but don't try doing all 3 at the same time to speed the process up. It wont work.

I had some problems sleeping earlier in the year, ended up taking some Nytol and it worked and I managed to get my sleeping patterns pretty much back to what they were thankfully as before that I wasn't getting to sleep till 6am or 7am which then fucked my day up.

Warm Milk work like?

It's a bit of a myth but it does contain melatonin and an amino acid which is supposed to release a sleepy-type chemical in the brain. Not conclusive though.

I'm not the best one to ask like as I'm getting about 4 hours each day at the moment inbetween the 4 nights that I work and then could happily sleep about 12 hours of my days off. I've completely fucked up my routine somehow.

Doesn't crying make you sleep also?

Usually due to emotional exhaustion though I think. We could insist that Tom sits through The Champ, Bambi, Love Story and Brief Encounter one after the other and see if it works though ;)

I was under the impression it releases a hormone that makes you sleep as sleep is seen as a stress relief.

Ask Cath to tell you about her day at work. Sleep will be 5 minutes away.

Okay, so I don't like people who do that

Haven't stabbed one yet though, although a few daggers have been thrown in their direction.

Did you see what I did?!

Just don't keep telling yourself "must get to sleep, this is getting daft now" or whatever when you go to lie down, or it'll never happen.

If I absolutely can't sleep I'll often put on a comedy or spoken-word CD I've heard hundreds of times before - Bill Hicks, Hitchhiker's Guide, whatever - and try and kid my brain into believing that I'm planning on lying down and listening to the whole thing. Usually sends me off to sleep by the end of it.

Pyroton syrup, not sure if it's spelet like that but it works.

Piriton.

Not particularly recommended if you're not in the throes of an allergic reaction but I'm sure people on here take stronger and more suspect things to help them sleep ;)

Try getting up before Neighbours.

The only thing I can add is drink lots of water during the day.

Or if you can, force yourself to get up really early one day after barely any sleep and try to have a normal day. By the time night comes you'll be absolutely shattered.

Why's water going to help?

As it happens, the latest research has shown there is no evidence that drinking lots of fluid is good for you. You should only drink when you are thirsty.
