Newcastle defender Peter Ramage has set his sights on a return to the first team following a successful return from injury for the reserves on Monday.

Ramage has been out of action for the past two months with a hamstring injury but played 70 minutes for The Magpies' reserves against Liverpool.

The defender will discuss stepping up his return to action with Glenn Roeder before finalising plans for his return but the frustrated star admits he is champing at the bit.

"I want to be involved in as many games right to the end of the season as I can," Ramage told Sky Sports News.

"We'll sit down tomorrow [Tuesday] and assess the situation. I'm a bit tired now but that's to be expected.

"I'm not a good watcher at the best of times. I've just been wanting to get out there. I've got 70 minutes under my belt now and hopefully I can stake a claim for the first team."
