Guest stevieintoon
Charlton, Everton, Man City, Sheffield United, West Ham, Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn, what its different about those clubs compared to NUFC. All smaller clubs? Undoubtedly, but one thing that is much better about them is they're finally valuing their support. Each of these clubs is reducing season ticket prices significantly, nearly all the other clubs are considering this, but only one remains quiet. Even if we have a shit season in 07/08, our SKY money will be at least £15m more than it is now, so surely the club can reward our obscene loyalty by potentially taking a £2m hit on this season ST revenue, which in my view would equate to £50 off every season ticket on average. Howay Shepherd ye greedy prick, I wouldn't mind paying it if it was decent football mate, but we're shite. Next season is "Roeder's season", reward the pain you've put us through, caused by your catastrophic decision to appoint Graeme Souness as our manager. I doubt anybody from the club will read this, but I hope they do, think of all the shit we've been through and give us some reward. They won't though. catmag 337
You're right - they won't, but it's about time they did. I very occasionally think long and hard about my season ticket and the fact that there's no way on this earth that I can afford it, and it becomes a credit card purchase every season. I have a word with myself, rationally decide it's ridiculous money to be shelling out, and then stop thinking about it cos I can't bear to give it up. Basically it works out about £30 a game. Now if I was spending £30 on a concert ticket, or whatever, then I certainly wouldn't be doing it every 2 weeks (on average) for 10 months of the year. They've got me sucked in and I can't get out
ewerk 31639
From a business sense why would the club reduce ticket prices if they're getting 95%+ attendance for every league game? It wouldn't be logical. Cup games on the other hand could do with being a bit cheaper, I'd rather see a drop in revenue from those early games and at least get a decent crowd through the turnstiles. Next season they're going to see a fall in average attendances for home games I reckon. I reckon you might get around 10-15% not renewing, and that won't be made up by people buying on the day. I reckon the average for next season will be in the low to mid-40s. If they could encourage people to renew by lopping 10-15% off the ticket prices, they could probably break even on it in terms of season ticket sales, then if we did have a good season, make more on top of that on general sale tickets. When you factor in the increased TV money, the correct business decision might well be to cut the prices for the coming season. And that doesn't even take into account the goodwill factor with the fans.
