How far do you travel to work?

Theres a job I was gonna go for and the post code is NE65. Still want to live in Chester-le-Street cos the idea was to move back and be around my family again - not in the sticks of Nortumbria! No idea how far it is but is it manageable on a daily basis?

I was just wondering. When I lived down south I did 40+ miles each way and it didnt worry me at all but there again driving past the villages of Suffolk is a bit prettier than the western bypass.

It depends on whether your job is worth the travel. When I was living in Leeds and working as a consultant, I'd have to travel all over the place - Birmingham, Cambridge, London, Middlesbrough, Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Hull - that can take it's toll after a while, but if you love the job then it's worth it.

I've got a mate of mine who lives in Helensburgh, but works in Edinburgh (80 miles each way - by train admittedly, but must take about 3-4 hours a day travelling) and he's done that for the best part of 10 years. So it's do-able.

Chester-Le-Street to NE65 is about 40 miles, according to Multimap - probably Alnwick area by the sounds of it.

NE65 is Morpeth isnt it? 20-30 mins straight run up the A1 from Chester Le Street like.

Provided there's no traffic, there'll be a fair bit over the Team Valley and Blaydon Bridge, though not as much as the usual Southbound hell.

A guy at work does Bensham-Cramlington in about 40 mins.

I have a whole 10 minute walk to work. My ex lives in Manc and commutes to Bradford every day. Was speaking to him the other day and they're relocating to Liverpool which will be a nice journey home of a teatime

About a 10 minute drive at the moment fuck all really.

The worst although it still wasn't much was when I worked in Gateshead and lived at Heaton, just a twat really the inconvenience of having to get the two metro's.

No its still not opened yet from the flooding. Still have the Crowne Plaza : provisionaly booked though and had no pressure off them to commit yet so no worries just now.

To be honest with us having set the date so far away I have hardly given it a thought as of late. Knew I was meant to be saving for something though..

NE 61/62 is Morpeth, not sure where NE65 is though.

I can get from Morpeth to Newcastle in 15 mins on a good day like, J69 must be on about 80 kph not mph.

He makes the same mistake with inches and cm's tbf.
