Howaythetoon 0
I have been very impressed by the conduct of all involved and the military style planning of the Owen swoop. We have shown a huge degree of foresight, intelligence, balls and have played Liverpool for mugs. This is the type of business we were conducting under Keegan, we targeted a player, and went all out to sign that player. What gets me though is why couldn't the powers that be do this when we needed a Michael Owen type managerial appointment? Imagine if we went after, I don't know, a Hitzfeld, in the manner we went after Owen? I hope the club learn from this and realise if you put your mind to something, you can acheieve anything. PS Shearer - what a star. I'm in no doubt, had Shearer not intervened or been at this club, we would not have signed Owen.
Geordie Boyo 24
Don’t get me wrong I'm over the moon and I fully appreciate how they've gone about getting their man, but now it's time to do the business on the pitch. If there ever was a time for Souness to be under severe pressure, it's now, GET IT RIGHT! C'MON!! I'm a little worried about the injuries to Dyer & Emre as you know how affective we play with them involved in creating play, but I'm hopeful Luque will do a job in the mean time, and possibly Nobby! Hitzfeld (and the like) would need little persuasion to come here now.
Scottish Mag 3
Is Souness only on a two year contract? I see some people on here at times mentioning 5 years though i am sure it was two.

If we can sign a player like Owen and make mugs of the European Champions in the way we have, literally forcing them out of the market, we should be able to bring in a top-class manager should Souness get the sack. The Scot has no excuses now that he has his team and his centre-forward. The board have no excuses should they give him the boot to appoint anyone other than a man with the right credentials. Time will tell.

At the end of the day, Souness is the man who brought Owen to the Toon he deserves a little time to gel the team and move us on.
Papa Lazaru 0
It makes it a hell of a lot easier to attract a manager when potential targets have seen us lash out about £25m on two players when we are 2nd from bottom! And when one of those players is one of europes top strikers bought from Madrid managers will be thinking i wouldn't mind a crack at that job after all! All thou most of the time I like to be positive about things I can't say I'm too confident as far as his tactics go, but Hopefully in the next two games Souness can prove us wrong.... LeazesMag 0
seems a bit churlish to be having a go at anyone today like ... but I've never saw any reason why we couldn't persuade someone like Hitzfeld to come to Newcastle and signings such as this can only help. Good on Shearer, makes you wonder if he really might have it in him ....

adios 717
Give Souness September and if he can't do it bring in Shearer for the rest of the season. Yes, I am serious!
