Wallsend Boys Club are wanting to build a 12 pitch training ground on the dis-used part of Wallsend Golf Course which my garden backs onto. The plans show the pitches will back right up onto our back fence and even removing mature trees that were put there to stop golf balls flying into the garden. With these pitches come massive floodlights, 80 space car park and it'll be open til 10pm so the noise every night and every Saturday and Sunday morning is going to be a nightmare. Me and all the others on my street have their objections to this and are planning to write a letter and all sign it expressing our concerns i.e. it will effect house prices, noise pollution, big floodlights lighting up our gardens, etc. Will it hold much sway at the council and is there anything else we can be doing to help our cause? I reckon you're right, the fact it's Wallsend Boys Club will mean the local press won't even mention any protests against it by local residents and it'll be passed no bother. It is possible to go to committee meetings dealing with planning applications to raise your concerns as well. Had a look on the planning portal and it seems they have not submitted their plans to North Tyneside council yet. You might want to write to your MP about it too. Wallsend Boys Club even wheeled out Peter Beardsley to give a speech to the Planning Committee saying how good the development would be for the area, even promised there would be no bad language what-so-ever coming from the pitches.
