Flog Zog? No Chance Says GR

GLENN Roeder says young talent like Charles N'Zogbia represents the future of Newcastle United - and treats with "contempt" idle transfer speculation surrounding the French midfielder.

Zog made his comeback from a nasty knee injury against Wigan last Sunday, and will again play a part in Saturday's Tyne-Tees derby visit of Middlesbrough to St. James' Park.

The 20-year-old was a sparkling performer for Roeder during the back end of last term, and though injuries have hampered him during the current campaign, there's no doubt the gaffer believes the left-sided starlet will come good again soon.

And that's why he simply brushes aside rumours linking N'Zogbia with a move away from SJP.

He said: "I will treat talk of Charles going anywhere with utter contempt.

"He is the future of Newcastle United, and take it from me, he is going to be here for a very long time.

"We are trying to build a good squad of young players here and I intend to keep my best players. And Charles N'Zogbia is one of them.

"We haven't seen the best of him yet. It's been a disappointing season for him because of injury but it's important he finishes strongly.

"He's still only 20 and a lot has happened to him in a short space of time."

Well I hope that's the case. On the subject of Zog being a young prospect, it's criminal he was on the bench for Duff. Aas a result when he did play, his form suffered.

All young players suffer this as it's the easy option. If a manager is criticized for it he will then exercise the get-out option of, 'to stop burn out blah blah blah'.

True and not something exclusive to Roeder or NUFC, when a young lad is up against a big money signing then alot of managers will take the easy option.

As an aside has anyone heard any talk bar Oliver's bullshit about him going to Arsenal? Lazy, slob-like journalism again tbh

They are probably as interested as Bayern are in Emre...
