Just bought myself a Digital DAB Radio

I've had one for a while, I'm not 100% convinced by them though.

Yes, the sound quality is excellent, but they seem very sensitive to signal strength, where you put them in the room, which direction the aerial is pointing. Some channels are crystal, others so bad I go back to fm / mw.

Worth it for xfm alone mind.

one of those things where I only really listen to the radio when I'm on the move.

My folks have one in their front room and the sound quality is great, anyone know if there are stereos with DAB or AAC+ (whatever the hell that is) built in? Dad is not a fan of clutter and would prefer it if everything operated from one box in the corner, with one easy to use remote.

probably where I get it from tbh.

Aye, you can get stereos with DAB on them these days (no idea what that AA thing is). From canny cheap an'all - Tesco were doing a little one a while back. It probably wasn't great, but the prices are obviously coming down.

cheap is good :nufc:

most of my money is put away for next year tbh. not getting much benefit from working at the minute. It's all either bills or savings ...

which will now lead to a stream of whining old farts who'll complain that "such is life"

AAC+ is a new compression format that the broadcasters are going to be using for DAB in the near future. Unless you buy a DAB radio that is capable of receiving this (or can be updated via USB or something) you will be missing out on new channels and better audio quality.

That is partly the reason they are dropping in price so much of late; this announcement was made in November 2006.

You can get Sony midi systems for about £100 with a DAB radio. I got one for over here. Didn't have to pay like, making it even cheaper

Shoplifters of the world, unite and take over!

Expenses darling, expenses.

BACKGROUND: Mrs hips bought master hips' ipod nano off him and gave it to me for christmas.

Aaaaaaaanyway, I bought a radio connection from Marks & Sparks last week after being told it did both FM and AM; it only does FM :lol: I hardly ever listen to FM. Thing is, Markies wont take it back once it has been opened!

£35 virtually wasted {tbh} :nufc:
