Guest Patrokles
I'm not sure whether you're familiar with the concept of a 'netlabel,' but essentially it's a record label based (usually) wholly online. All of (or the majority) distribute their artists' music entirely free of charge. The whole netlabel movement is pretty conducive to bedroom laptop supastars. It's been a while since I spent much time investigating the various releases (inevitably, there are quite a few, though most labels have good quality control.), but the other thread reminded me of a few excellent, free, eps released on a couple of very good (I believe Scandinavian) netlabels. http://www.kikapu.com/label/index.html is a great label from what I remember. My favourite find there was: http://www.archive.org/download/kpu001/kpu...nard-keynes.mp3 Also http://www.kahvi.org/ I seem to recall as being pretty nice. The best release was by Complex Routine from a netlabel called Boltfish, but unfortunately they've stopped making their music free of charge. Polymorphic looks nice but I haven't listened to any of it yet. http://www.polymorphic-music.co.uk/php/artists.php This is a directory of netlabels dealing with Electronica, though there are plenty of other genres in the catalogue: http://www.phlow.de/netlabels/index.php/Category:Electronica and IDM http://www.phlow.de/netlabels/index.php/Category:IDM Anyway, dig around. There's some good shit in amongst it all.

tinofbeans 91
time for a blatant plug. my mate angus creates excellent electronica. his site is www.clubbedtodeath.net and he has a few free downloads. do yourselves a favour and buy his cd as well or the album on itunes. considering the gear he's got the sounds he gets are nothing short of phenomenal and he's also a top bloke. other groups worth considering are ralph myerz and the jack herren band ( the first 2 albums are proper good) and the label city centre offices in germany, home of boy robot, arovane and some other dreampop and electronica acts.
