Jimbo 175
I still get on well with them, although my dad does my head in, he can be a selfish sanctimonious sod at times, I get on well with my mum still, although she's not well at the moment. Gemmill 47085
Get on well with both of them. My dad works away 6 months of the year, and is on holiday every month he's home (tax-related, I suspect), so I don't see him all that much. But other than that, no problems. Interesting this one Jimbo...I remember you claiming on here previously that you were fundementally selfish despite having a wife and kids. Sins of the father...? Your thoughts please. newcastlebroon 0
I get on well with both of them, its weird that I see my dad more of a mate than a dad, they'd both do anything for anyone aswell,

HHmm maybe, to be fair, I'd say I was not very thoughtful rather than fundementally selfish, I do have elements of selfishness but I do my best to snap out of it when I can, although I do see traits of my father in me I do try and irradicate them as soon as they are recognised. Yeah sorry mate I was just parahphrasing from memory. It's interesting stuff like as I can start to see my parents' influence in me as I get towards the three and zero. Gemmill 47085
Thankfully my mam and dad are both spot on, but I've got mates who talk about their parents and it's amazing some of the things their parents will say/do - nasty hurtful shit, and it seems totally alien to me that someone could have a relationship like that with their parents. I've just been lucky though, I suppose. Some people just aren't cut out for it, I guess.
MattM4 0
I lost my father 4 years ago already, and always find stories of people not being in touch anymore very sad (edit: just like Gemmill has put it above lol) Shame, but I guess some situations are just impossible to resolve. I get on really well with my Mother, speak to her regularly and visit every couple of months (even though she lives in Liverpool) if that makes you feel any better
sweetleftpeg 0
Aye, my dad had became more of my mate and less of my dad before he died. When you think about it though, you tend to have so much in common with your parents; character traits, personality, interests etc. I guess it either drives you mad and you don't want to spend time with each other or you get on like a house on fire.
