You're supposed to show abstinence in Lent though (if you're a practising Christian) not eat sticky buns - the cross is a clue in relating them to Easter Strictly speaking though, pancakes are a pre-Lent thing, not a Lent thing, as it starts on Ash Wednesday (tomorrow).
