Guest Patrokles
ride were a really very average group tbh. not a patch on my bloody valentine... I disagree, personally. Having said that, Slowdive uber alles. Anyone remember Spacemen 3? Shoe-gaze-tastic. Druggy druggy music. Like that's a bad thing? Well, see, when some people get high, the things that sound really good to them involve the same chord for several hours. Like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Hendrix, The Doors and all the rest of that druggy shite? Spacemen 3 were a bit dull like. Anticipated that response. Different people different drugs different reactions different times. Doors were naff too, to be fair.
looneytoon 0
I used to love Ride. Dreams Burn down, Vapour Trail etc. were awesome, although it does sound somewhat dated these days. The drums on Nowhere are terrific though.

What were the Stones on? Crack?
looneytoon 0
Matt Elliott's solo stuff and his work as the Third Eye Foundation are miles better. Agreed. Failing Songs is a wonderful album

Although KAOS Theory volumes 1-3 were what really did it for me, back in the day

What were the Stones on? Crack? Anticipated the response with the word 'some.' I'm just saying, different people react to drugs in different ways. Maybe it's less about the drugs and more about the individuals. I do know that the fact SM3 were heavily under the influence had quite the effect on their music. Grateful Dead of shoegaze, really. Only you can get away with 16 minute jams when you're playing countryfied blues rock and less so when you're playing extremely slowly and rarely changing chords. Tom_NUFC 0
Hurricane #1's first album was great. I still really like it. The second album wasn't as good, but there are a few good tunes on it like Only The Strongest Will Survive and The Greatest High, but in all its disappointing, and not a patch on the first one. Ride were a great band. Vapor Trail and Black Nite Crash were brilliant, and Twisterella is still a hell of a good song.
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
I always associate Hurricane #1 with another Oasis-lite band, Northern Uproar. Anyone remember them?

"Any Way You Look" was a cracking little summery number. Did fuck-all though, I don't think they lasted much after that.
