tinofbeans 91
save another £100 and get a core 2 duo (or core duo) laptop. they'll blow this thing into the weeds... that thing will be great for spreadsheets, surfing the web etc but don't expect to play any decent games on it. Craig 6707
Having had a core duo laptop for the past 6 months, they're nowt to write home about tbh. Intel are marketing it by saying "you can now multitask". You've been able to multi-task since Windows 95 so that's nowt new. If multi-tasking was the primary reason I wanted a computer, I'd either buy a Mac or install Linux as the O/S... tbh, unless you really need a laptop, i'd buy a desktop. so much cheaper for what you get within it and it's considerably easier to upgrade components. Given that this is SMO though and his constant need to hide his web-surfing from his missus, I suspect a laptop is probably necessary. You found a wireless hotspot in the bog or something? You found a wireless hotspot in the bog or something? true enough, but a core duo or core 2 duo has way more power compared to a celeron. you get more bang for your buck... a desktop would be a better solution however. Craig 6707
Celerons are a waste of time tbh. They were introduced as a low cost alternative to the Pentiums when AMD were producing cheaper, better chips! They're absolute dog-shit!

Tend to agree but lap tops have come down in price one hell of a lot recently and have some advantages.

I do agree that they've come down in price but if you don't need to use the thing in more than one location then there's no real need for one. Only reason I have one is because I work in different locations at work and also can work from home. If I had to chose for a static location, it'd be a desktop PC every time! Yeah but have you tried wheeling a PC into the bog? laptops are invaluable tbh
