Happy Face 29
Kelly Jones Sweet lord. He's a very good singer. Very samey but never the less there is no doubt he can sing. When he sings "Mistaaaaaa Writaaaaaaa" I want to stab him in the gullet.

sammynb 3640
This is such a tough one because a vocalists voice can be so many things. As meenzer said Tom Waits singing certainly isn't pretty but what it conveys has no peers and someone like Elizabeth Fraser can produce the sounds of angels but without spoken vocals quite often it is lost as just another instrument. I'd have to say one of my favourite "live" singer/performers would have to be Declan McManus. As he has gotten older his vocal range has grown enormously. I saw him once, not long after the Juliet letters release and what he could do vocally left the audience amazed. It even got to the end of the evening when the theatre had to turn off the PA for licencing reasons and he still performed two songs without amplification accompanied by an acoustic guitar. The Fish 11079
this distinctive.. instantly identifiable sound is what I like most. A truly unique voice, even if it isn't pitch perfect, is, in my humble opinion, of infitinitely more worth than a million X-Factor Conveyor belt zombies whose vocal gymnastics are an assault to the ear. That's how I'd defend the inclusion of Caleb, Dave Grohl, Chris Cornell and Josh Homme I can't however defend Josh's last name

Kevin Carr's Gloves 4087
Very very difficult to get to a 3. Honourable mentions to early Elton John, Tom Waits, Nina Simone, Kris Kristofferson, Neil Diamond, The bloke from Divine Comedy, The Bloke from Crowded House, Ray CHarles, James Brown, Otis Redding, Tom Petty and Dusty Springfield (apparently not a wanted pirate called Sprungfeld). But My 3 are Johnny Cash. Billie Holliday John Lee Hooker
