Tooj 17
Has there been an ex-player that's walked straight into a top flight management position and been succesful long term? Souness and Dalglish won trophies at clubs where it was expected, but left them worse off I think. Keegan did a job with us that you can't argue with but it seems to have been shown that he was running on enthusiasm and once that waned he had little to give. I hate Paul Ince, but I've got to respect the way he's learning the trade at Macclesfield. I wonder if Robson sees himself as above that kind of club. Capello. Kevin Carr's Gloves 4063
I am suprised Freddie hasn't invited him to join the coaching staff of the Geordie Nation. Perhaps it is because he is from Chester-le-Street and being from South of the Tyne isn't a proper Geordie like Lee Clarke or Peter Beardsley. Are you saying Waddle & Gazza aren't proper Geordie's like, cos they're from Gateshead, ye knaa like they're from South of the Tyne? Geordie Ridley was from Gateshead as weel, an' he wrote wor National Anthem like, ye want yer arse skelped son, aye an' mebbe yer lugs clipped. Think he was taking piss out of Shepherd TBF. Dr Gloom 22462
............................. over-rated player Well now! for a while I considered you to be quite knowledgable in assessing players but now I can see I vastly over-rated your ability. looks like i over-rated your ability to rate my knowledge of assessing players...or something
Fop 1
shit manager, over-rated player A tad harsh. He wasn't so good for England, but that was just injury. As a manager.... he's done ok, not the best certainly, but far from the worst.
Renton 22362
Robson was a great player, but he was most definitely hyped in his day too, as anyone who was around in the 80s and had to put up with the incessant Captain Marvel headlines on the tabloids will testify to. tinofbeans 91
robson was a drunk, and was a class player in the mid 80's i remember him on one of the holiday programmes complaining of a lack of decent bars in torramalinos or wherever. not exactly the brightest bloke either... The main reason Rosbson was hyped was purely because he was captain of ManU, who along with Spurs were the media darlings. Had he played anywhere else I doubt we'd be having this conversation.
