Can someone explain this for me please?

Under Fifa's rules, a footballer cannot play competitively for more than two different clubs between 1 July and 30 June the following year.

Scunthorpe bring in winger Hurst

Scunthorpe United have signed Kevan Hurst on loan from Sheffield United, reports BBC Radio Humberside.

The 21-year-old winger has agreed a three-month loan deal that will keep him with the League One leaders until the penultimate game of the season.

Hurst has played for two different clubs this season, meaning he was only available on an emergency loan.

He spent the first half of the season on loan at Chesterfield before returning to play for the Blades.

Luton seal deal for Owls striker

Luton Town have signed striker Drew Talbot for £250,000 from fellow Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

The 20-year-old has signed a three-year deal and goes straight into the squad for Saturday's FA Cup fourth round tie at home to Blackburn.

Talbot has been on loan at League One side Scunthorpe and also played seven games for Wednesday this season.

The forward missed all of last season with a back injury but returned to first-team duty in September.

Owls boss Brian Laws said: "Drew was down the pecking order for us and he wants to play football.

"This will help me to bring in some new blood - the chairman has already indicated that if I can wheel and deal he will back me regarding the financial side of it."
