tinofbeans 91
scenario for you. fat fred finds that his shares in greggs bakery have octupled in value and he offers in an unusually nice gesture for you the fan to advise him on who should stay and who should go. you have £50m to spend and can get rid of or hire any player in world football who would your first 16 be? and would you have roeder as manager
Jimbo 174
I would send Roeder back to working with the academy, I'd tear up the contracts of Luque, Carr, Bramble, Babayaro and Terry Mac, I'd appoint Co Adriaanse as manager and instruct him to assemble his own backroom staff. Signings would be: Leighton Baines. Nikola Žigić Eddie Johnson Jaques Faty Craig Gordon Morton Gamst Pedersen Rafinha
Sima 0
Presuming you'd sell Given? Because Gordon will not sign for a team just to sit on the bench, what with him being the best British keeper and all.... Barney 0
Baines/Bridge Curtis Davies Dean Ashton Giles Barnes I think that these would all be solid, realistic signings. Can't think of a suitable right back off the top of my head, but Roeder has supposedly identified Barnes and Davies, who are young and highly rated, getting regular first team football in the Championship. The main thing is really rebuilding the defence around Given and Taylor(deserves a chance to learn from a reliable centre back IMO).

Agree with you on Bridge, Davies and Ashton though. Not seen enough of Barnes to comment. £8m on Lampard in Summer too
Barney 0
I haven't seen Barnes either, but I hope he could come in and do what Jenas did here. A couple of seasons of hard graft and hopefully have a decent player on our books. Without the goldfish crap either. I also agree about a central attacking midfielder. I feel that Emre/Milner or Dyer should be given the opportunity to make the spot their's.
Lazarus 0
first thing i'd do is overhaul the backroom staff from manager to the physio to scouts to tea lady. mutual termination of the the following players contracts at the end of the season: luque, carr, babayaro, shola, ramage, pattison allow the contracts of le sib, pav, moore and bramble to expire. first team squad is then: given harper krul huntington edgar taylor duff butt solano milner parker emre nzogbia dyer owen martins spunk the rest on defenders. @yourservice 67
Think you might need more than 50 Mill to sort this lot out. I'd keep about 2 to 3 players max of the current squad Given Martins Owen edit:forgot about Zog so i'd keep those 4 Edited February 3, 2007 by @yourservice

Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
I'd sign Greg Halford, Curtis Davis, Bale, Barnes, Nugent and Ashton. I'd also put the feelers out about Woodgate returning. If I was appointing a manager I'd go for Hiddink and offer him complete control (but I don't think that plus £50mil would be enough to persuade him). Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
50mill on Ronaldinho of course!!! That would be the NUFC way of doing things, one trophy signing whilst the rest of the squad is still stinky.
Sicklee Sausage Roll 0
Give to the Labour Party as an interest-free loan, in exchange for: A knighthood for our new Youth Development manager, Sir Dario Gradi. Allowing standing on the terraces, Allowing the drinking of alcoholic beverages in the seated areas, Awarding us the right to open a Supercasino, and changing the listed status of the buildings behind the East Stand into a demolition order.
