Guest Patrokles
A lot of University courses have end of year parties. They involve staff and students socialising, music, drinking. A little naff, a little shambolic, but celebratory and fun, and a time where you can forget about work, etc. However, the University of Edinburgh's Informatics department goes even further, with a THREE DAY SPECTACULAR; The School of Informatics Annual Jamboree! This features talks on subjects such as: Computational Maps in the Visual Cortex, On Basing One-Way Functions on NP-Hardness, Probabilistic Methods for Scientific Images. Applications in fMRI., and The Wonders of Statistical Machine Translation! There is even a poster contest, featuring entries like: http://www.inf.ed.ac.uk/events/jamboree/20...AndreaGreve.pdf http://www.inf.ed.ac.uk/events/jamboree/20.../SeanWilson.pdf http://www.inf.ed.ac.uk/events/jamboree/20...zalez-Velez.pdf This is what Invicta 'you're all nerds!'
