Jimbo 175
DARK SIDE SHINES BRIGHT Dark Side of the Moon by legendary rock band Pink Floyd has been voted the nation's favourite rock album of all time. It is one of the most successful releases ever, having sold more than 34 million copies worldwide. Pink Floyd performed two tracks from the album, Breathe and Money, at the Live 8 concert in London. It was their first performance together in 25 years. Dark Side of the Moon is just one of four Pink Floyd albums in the top 30. Wish You Were Here came in at number four, The Wall at 12 and Animals at 25. The poll involved more than 15,000 listeners of the digital radio station Planet Rock. Led Zeppelin IV and Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous came in second and third place respectively. The top 10: 1. Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon 2. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV 3. Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous 4. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here 5. AC/DC - Back In Black 6. Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction 7. Meatloaf - Bat Out Of Hell 8. Deep Purple - In Rock 9. Dick Emre 0
Own all of them except Wish You Were Here, and it is good to see Thin Lizzy in there. Live and Dangerous has got to be own of the best live albums ever made, imho.
Kid Dynamite 7443
nevermind shits on ten. it sold about 3 times as many copies and is prob a candidate for number one spot. also where is black sabbath, metallicas black album etc..
TheInspiration 1
Well it depends on what counts as "rock" - typically a top 10 rock album chart would be consisting of classic rock albums. There is the one exception of a grunge album, but there is no space for Metallica (being metal, and "selling out" at a later decade, which is also gives Ten a surprise appearance). Black Sabbath however, I am more surprised are not there. Anyway the best Metallica album is Ride the Lighning, from the thrash-metal period, even though the "black album" is the only album that would be a contender for that chart. Though in this case the one that's sold the most is the best of the two.

Ketsbaia 0
1. Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon2. Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti 10. Pearl Jam - Ten 21158[/snapback] Take out Bat Out of Hell, throw in The Wall and you'd have possibly the most sensible resolution to a public vote ever. Nevermind = 'I hate myself, I want to die' music. I could abide Nirvana when I went through that whole depressed teenager phase but now I can't listen to them. If you want a good grunge band try Soundgarden. Edited August 29, 2005 by Skol

Actually Bleach was a better album musically than Nevermind but as "best" should be measured on many things including influence on other musicians, then Nevermind should be in the list. As for the good grunge band, Soundgarden were good but there were better in: Tad Big Black Killdozer Mudhoney Helmet Screaming trees Alice in chains Jesus lizard Even "the melvins" if you want to hear what Kurt use to rave about. Or if you want the english equivilant and a band that the world missed: Swervedriver! The first album "raise" was probably the best but least heard album released in 1989/90. Even Billy Corgan mentioned them on a music program (Rage) he was selecting clips for on Saturday night.
Matt 0
I own an alarmingly low number of these. I've been meaning to 'backdate' (in that I wasn't aware of them when they first came out) my CD collection for sometime, but have never got round to it.
