luckyluke 2
GMTV is just a piss-take though isn't it? Probably more to this than meets the eye too. Probably but the police are shocking these days, some of it their fault, some of it the systems fault. But basically unless someone dies or one of the really horrendous crimes of the 21st PCer than thou century (like someone being offended over nothing or using potentially racist language - like calling their black and white dog "Blackie" - expect a swat team response) then they really just aren't interested. Even had a couple of young lads smash into my car once and drive off (they were doing laps of the block doing handbrake turns apparently I came along and they misjudged one), got the number plate and 3 bystanders as witness happy to testify, police didn't even bother turning up just gave me a crime number and said "there's probably nothing we can do anyway...." wtf? The police were round within the hour when I reported my laptop had been stolen, even though I only noticed it was gone the day after. Only on the off chance you hadn't lost it and then they could check if there was child porn on it and boost their arrest rate. In all honest I don't know what on earth you did to get an hour response time to that (your second name isn't Blair is it? ), my father in law had to wait for more than an hour for an ambulance after a massive stroke a few weeks ago, the usual response time from the police for a small theft is from 24 hours to never. They said that it was a 'priority one crime' or something so they aim to have a copper round within that time. Different police force I guess. They never recovered it though, for which I'm glad as it didn't work, was full of viruses and I got this lovely laptop I'm typing on now from the insurance. That's shocking about your father in law though, even if it isn't entirely relevent (police don't drive ambulances last I checked. Was he okay? The Fish 11126
Tell them you're a paki...stani and they'll be sending Scotland Yard up to help the local plods. Nice. sounds like he should be "on trial" rather than having them...
Fop 1
They said that it was a 'priority one crime' or something so they aim to have a copper round within that time. Different police force I guess. You maybe got lucky in that it was the targetted "crime of the month", they do quite well when meeting targets (both Government and Police management LOVE them), but equally others pay for that because they are so busy meeting those targets that other (non-targetted) crimes are virtually ignored. That's shocking about your father in law though, even if it isn't entirely relevent (police don't drive ambulances last I checked. Was he okay? Aye I didn't mean that the police drove them, but more that you'd expect (and need) an ambulance quickly, but even they don't arrive like that (again cuts, targets and withdrawn funding have hit them). Well with a massive stroke you're pretty much going to have a lot of problems and are looking at 4-8 month in hospital/recuperation centres no matter what, but fortunately one of his daugthers was school friends with an ambulance paramedic who she rang when they were told the nearest ambulance was over 35 miles away, he was off duty and came around picking up some oxygen from the ambulance station and beat the ambulance itself there by a good 40 mins. I drove from a good 25 miles away and even I still beat the ambulance by more than 15 mins. So the ambulance issue at least probably didn't cause too much more damage that could have been prevented, although equally it can of in no way helped either, but if it had been something like a heart attack, or if his brain had continued to heamorage he'd have been dead in that time without a doubt.
