Footsoldier 0
I'd add that if Martin's is worth 10 mill then Bent, who can play up front by himself as well as score goals, is worth close to 15 mill at current valuations. But then , idiots on here actually think ameobi is a good player so really, 'nuff said.

sniffer 0
Rubbish. We'd have been better off getting rid of ameobi and keeping chopra who is 3 years younger. Ameobi is 25 and not going to get any better. If he can't head a ball by now he's never going to learn.

Shola on the other hand we know can score goals in the Premiership and in Europe. Keeping Shola over Chopra is a total no-brainer tbh.

Ameobi is 25 and not going to get any better. If he can't head a ball by now he's never going to learn. You've got to love the logic used by such people here. Chopra never looked like a Premiership player. He looked decent at the end of the season when were doing well, but only netted once and hardly ever looked a goal threat. Unlike Shola of course, who scored 7 in 14 at the end of last season. Not bad imo. I doubt anyone expected him to have scored 15 goals in the fizzy pop league at this stage, and they can be forgiven for doing so - did you think that? And were you not pleased with Shola's performances? If it was up to Roeder, Chopra would have been kept anyway - we didn't try selling him. Also if you're saying this in the wake of his hat-trick at the weekend, please remember he went on a goal drought of over ten games prior to that. billytray 0
Wouldn't it be great if West Ham,you know the world cup winners 1966,spent shitloads and got relegated. Its a club riddled with corruption and has been for years-Storrie and Redknapp sacked for getting their fingers caught in the till etc.,and they have the most bigoted fans around.,who 90% of them claim to either knew, were related to or worked for or with the Kray twins.Their treatment of Roeder was disgusting but showed them in a true light.Enjoy the Championship, you cockney twatts, you'll never be a club who i have any kind of respect for. Footsoldier 0
Thev only reason anybody can point to a handful of acceptable games from ameobi is because the rest of them really stunk. For many of these games he ambled around posing no threat at all to the opposition. He is next to useless in the air, slow without a decent shot, frequently offside and doesn't have a strikers instinct to take the shortest route to goal when put through. So what is there to like about him? By the way, Chopra had nothing like the opportunities that ameobi's had. I'm not saying Chopra would be a first choice striker, but people on here have been whining for 5 years or so that ameobi is still learning and he's still only marginally better now than then. Given the chances, I think Chopra will be a decent player because he is still on the learning curve....nothing to do with his hatrick at the weekend...and will be a better player than ameobi in the long run. tinofbeans 91
just reading this thread and darren bent is when he's playing, scoring a goal every 2.1 games (57 appearances and 27 goals)(quoted from wikipedia) in the premiership. thats probably the most consistent strike rate of any forward over the last couple of yearsand is really rather good considering he's playing in a shit team.. watch him go to a top6 side in the summer if charlton get relegated. Gejon 2
I would guess Van Nistlerooy and Henry were a lot more consistant tbh!

Maybe, no better than cover at Premiership level though (same as Shola in that respect) and he wanted to leave for 1st team football. Also, Martins and Owen piss all over Chopra and they are both similar types of players to him. So, a moot point imo.
