Guest stevieintoon
I sincerely hope I'm wrong but I don't think Theo Walcott will ever be at the same level as Wayne Rooney or Thierry Henry. I've seen him play well, he was class for the 21's against Germany, there's some decent snippets I've seen from him at Southampton and I know he's only a kid, but Aaron Lennon's only a kid too and look at him. Wenger playing him on the right wing must be doing him no good because he's been utter shite lately. He shite at Liverpool, shite at Spurs and the day fuckin hell, (I was waiting of Arsenal to get my bet up) I was shouting at the telly for them not to give him the ball. Every time he got it head down run, run, with no direction at all. The only trick he seems to have is moving the ball the outside of his right foot round the outside of a player then he's away down the line, but Gardiner had him in his back pocket, Theo never got past him once. If he's going to be really top class I think he has to improve 100%.

tinofbeans 91
seems as though he's a bit frail to be honest, and as for trickery its pretty much non existant. crossings not great either. not a patch on lennon to be fair, not as agile doesn't have the full repertoire of tricks either. gardners very fast mind (prob the fastest left back in the premiership) so all he had to do was give walcott a yard and he had him in his pocket. needless to say walcott would have a riot against any of our left backs. Lennon runs like a lass who's about to miss the bus. They both do tbh. At the moment neither of them are that impressive IMO (if you took away pace would either of them even be playing professional football at the moment?). Howaythetoon 0
He's err, 18 but looks about 15. He just lacks strength and awareness, he'll come good although I doubt he'll ever be in the class of Rooney et al. If anyone can develop him into a great player though it will be Wenger. Playing him on the wing is for his own benefit, up front he'd get battered by defenders. Edited January 29, 2007 by Howaythetoon

If he hasn't got the pace or mind to deal with that at his age, then he never will. Fuck him off on loan to Gillingham and get him learnt

nufc4ever 0
That goal he scored for the U21s showed what he could be capable of. It was top quality, regardless of the age level/opposition. Edited January 29, 2007 by nufc4ever

That goal he scored for the U21s showed what he could be capable of. It was top quality, regardless of the age level/opposition. I've scored better, I've scored many better in fact, as you say regardless of the opposition. I remember Mark Stimson scoring a better goal than that from 30 yards, and Paul Sweeney against Derby one time and they weren't being billed as the next Paolo Maldini, the way people have went on about Theo.
