Optimistic Nut 153
Charlton have been playing the exact same system this season, with Bent up-front by himself, and Rommedahl & Thomas supporting him from the flanks. Amazing what a difference having a striker up-front who can run, can actually have on your side.
Tooj 17
i'll criticise it no ends because i believe it is destroying the entertainment value of the game
Optimistic Nut 153
It's not doing Charlton any harm! 6 goals away from home. Midfielders getting beyond the striker because they know they have a striker capable running with the ball, top scorer in the league, and midfielders chipping in with goals. Andy 0
You build a formation around the players you have in your squad - Charlton have the players to make a 4-5-1 formation work effectively. We don't. Simple as that.
Jimbo 175
So why are they flying high and we are doing so shit ?
Tooj 17
people go to a game to be entertained at the end of the day, not to see 9 men behind the ball and teams trying to sniff out the odd goal, i'd take Gillespie & Ginola whipping crosses in all day long over that anyday thank you very much
Optimistic Nut 153
They have Bent, Rommedahl & Murphy fit and on top of their games. We have Shearer, Dyer & Jenas not fit or on top of their games.
Optimistic Nut 153
But when they attack it's 4 or sometimes 5 getting forward. Bent, Rommedahl, Thomas & Murphy have been brilliant to watch in their opening three games.

Optimistic Nut 153
Can you honestly say we'd be any better in a 4-4-2?
Tooj 17
Can you honestly say we'd be any better in a 4-4-2? 20914 quite easily.... Shearer needs crosses into the box to be effective, due to the sad fact he's still the main man

Scottish Mag 3
Can you honestly say we'd be any better in a 4-4-2? 20914 We don`t have the players for either IMO the squad is just a mess.
Optimistic Nut 153
Playing 4-4-2 would have meant Ameobi in that side ahead of Luque, Dyer, Bowyer, Emre or Parker. IMO, that would not have made us stronger. Shearer had 2 or 3 decent chances today but still couldn't score. Once we've signed another striker, fair enough, go back to 4-4-2. Optimistic Nut 153
That's your opinion. My opinion is that we are stronger with Bowyer in a midfield five, than with Ameobi & Shearer as a front two.
Mark 0
I think we need a right winger! Dyer doesnt have the discipline to stay on the wing.

Not that SOURNESS understands or can even spell the word tactics. SOURNESS has totally put the team out of balance, not to mention his suicidal ideas of playing guys when they're simply not fit. That was obvious yesterday with Dire and Emre and look who turned up in their place when they had to go off. FFSAAAAAAke its a Total F****** DIsaster!!!!!!!!!!!! Papa Lazaru 0
The criticism from people is aimed at the fact Souness is like a little child who has seen the likes of Chelsea, Everton et al playing different formations on tv and so he decides to do the same but actually as know fuckign understanding whatsoever of what he is doing. And so his players have no ida either and we end up playing something that is neither 4-3-3, 4-5-1 or any other combination you care to choose and we become a mess. He also is stupid enough to use formations (or as close to a formation as he gets), tactics and line ups that are a waste of time if you are playing Shearer, making him and us worse. Teams like Charlton and Everton have intelligent, organised managers with distinct gameplans and tactitcs and who get the very bets out of their players. We invariably have better squads than these teams but are managed by a dick who gets the very worst out of his players by turning them into a mess.
