Craig 6682
Aye as far as i'm concerned he's a television presenter who had a crash, and is now well again. Can't see any indications otherwise, its not as if the crash made him famous is it? If a bloke had tried the record, crashed, and THEN got a job on Top Gear then i'd agree with you, but that didn't happen. Not in yours, mine, or anyone else who's watched TG or Braniac for that matter's eyes but a lot of people hadn't heard of him before the crash and now have. You ask a poll of 500 people on the street who Richard Hammond is and I guarantee they'll reply "the bloke who nearly killed himself" rather than "one of the presenters on Top Gear".... Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
In reference to the stuff HF wrote above - is he meant to be racist, or is 2 and 2 being put together to make 5. I don't watch Top Gear so I don't see a great deal of him. Clarkson has always been right wing, but I've never heard him say anything that could be construed as racist. Maybe a bit xenophobic, but not racist. My point was that the term "Racist, pig-faced waste of blood and organs" could just as easily (probably more accurately) be labelled at Clarkson as Goody. Not that either are particularly racist. I think jingoistic is a better description of Clarkson than racist tbh. It was news when the crash happened, it was news when Hammond made such a remarkable recovery and it was news that he (and the show) made it back on air. Now thats history, as the presenters themselves agreed, let us never speak of it again.

TheInspiration 1
Sick of hearing the sympathy for Hammond, he's still an annoying little twat the majority of the time I disagree - he comes across as a very likeable guy. Much more so than Jeremy Clarkson, whom I agree is an obnoxious bellend, but can be very funny at times, and has a lot of interesting stuff to say. James May's just a silly greasemonkey toff tbh though.
tinofbeans 91
its a winning team with the jingoist giant, the dwarf daytime tv bloke and the chubby chap that looks like he could have fronted a prog rock band. you actually couldn't make it up. its good daft television. Craig 6682
Have met Hammond and he is a very likeable genuine bloke and does what he does on Top Gear because it is what he loves doing rather than because it makes him famous. His enthusiasm for cars is ridiculous tbh.
luckyluke 2
A coursemate of mine was in ITU when they bought Hammond in. The LEAD consultant of EVERY speciallity came to a meeting about him. As likeable as the bloke is, that kind of attention is ridiculous.
