Is that big Danish fella that was metioned on Friday a non-starter then? He sounded as if he might have fitted the bill and been reasonable value.

It's all about Roeder putting bids in for players when he has no chance of bringing them in,as long as he's seen to be making them, then he thinks he can override the window and fans.

The excuse of having made offers but it was difficult will be a well used one.

Making enquiries, you mean? It's the agents recently who have come out and said all this, not Roeder.

Hmmm... argies don't tend to do too well over here of late, would be a waste imo

So you wouldn't take any Brazilians because Kleberson wasn't any good?

It's fine to 'risk it' when you're bringing these sort of players in as rotational players but when we need a first team, first choice player to sort out the back four I don't think it's a good idea.

Therein lies Roeder's predicament.

That's about the size of it

I don't think he has, that article is from Friday so how come its only being reported there? How comes Skysports don't know about it? On N-O someone translated something on the official site today and it said no agreement had been reached or something!

28/01/2007 - Gooch naar Newcastle?

Waar zal Onyewu uiteindelijk spelen?

Where will Onyewu actually play? The destination does changes nearly on a daily basis. On Saturday "La Derniere says that an agreement with Marseille had been as good as finalised.

On Sunday "La Meuse" reports that the player was in Newcastle. After Fulham and Chelsea this is another English club. It isn't a secret that Gooch has a desire for English football. Newcastle did make an offer earlier which wasn't accepted by the Rouches. Accoding to "Het Nieuwsblad this [acceptable offer?] has now allegedly been made. For the Rouges he is already no problem anymore and may the player look which club does [conclude] his transfer: Newcastle or Gooch ... how should I say this. The answer will follow on Monday at the latest.

The translated parts are a literal interpretation. I'm still struggling a bit with the (most important part) in the middle though, but think have got it more or less right now.
